Hydrogen is not an energy source, it is best thought of as energy storage - and not a very efficient one at that. Electricity can be used to split water into oxygen and hydrogen, but the process is currently anywhere from 70-80% efficient, meaning you lose 20-30% of the energy. Then also keep in mind hydrogen cells are between 40-60% efficient, which means you lose an additional 40-60% of the stored energy when the hydrogen is used. Hydrogen can be produced more efficiently from hydrocarbons (mostly natural gas), but this gets you back to using fossil fuels and still does not address the loss of energy at use time.

Weirdly, at one point Boeing acquired deHavilland Canada, killed off the DHC-6 Twin Otter and the Dash-7, and then sold it back to the Canadian government, who basically forced Bombardier to buy deHavilland, Canadair and LearJet.

Its unfortunate that lawmakers defined "machine gun" too narrowly. They should have banned "rapid fire" weapons set a maximum rate of fire allowed. Many gun ranges have rules against "rapid fire" no matter the design of your firearm. This is an admission from the gun community that rapid firing if any kind is a serious safety issue. If practice ranges can do this, we can do this as a nation.

You forgot to mention the engine problem with the A220 airbus Canadian product. Beautiful aircraft but the gears engine is a killer. More than 1000 engines are waiting for parts this means 500 planes grounded. Spirit have them as well as jetblue in their A320/321 neo/a220. Buying this is buying a problem. The best airline to buy will be JetBlue with good negotiation to get out of the bad planes.

Within IT the move to cloud-based service is much the same as what you talked about. That leaves the space for the mainframe (who all said would be dead 20 years ago) so vulnerable as it is not "sexy" to the new generations. I know of a few 70+ MF techs that cannot retire as there just is no new blood to take on the load.

If JetBlue could not buy Spirit, SWA has no chance buying anyone. Boeing bet it's entire future on SWA running the 737. If not for SWA, Boeing would have developed and rolled out a new single aisle, narrow body starting development in the mid-2000s. Instead they both got hooked on the relationship. Boeing for an easy way to sell a 60 year old airframe and propping up the business model of its customer. SWA for never diversifying it's risk away from an airframe and supplier because it got hooked on being the most efficient and hoping that it's supplier could continue eeking out incremental efficiency while never cleansheeting a new design. Both deserve each other on this one b/c both put too much faith in an aging tech when the rest of the world was breezing by.

It really is a full time job to look for a job. Alot of dead ends and wasted time. Thats why i recommend being open to new industries, to you can see who is hiring right now. Not who might be hiring later Just make sure you teach your new employer how your old skills applies to their company. You have to teach them alittle. Seems like they should buy (or partner with) Avelo and keep the name for the shorter point to point routes. Southwest ticket, operated by Avelo. They could retire planes from Southwest proper and Avelo could expertly rehab the older planes as they are already doing but on a larger scale. This seems like a good way to cover the gap until Southwest can get the new planes delivered from Boeing. The Avelo segment could become smaller as this happens but kept around if and where it makes sense, even if they start buying planes smaller than 737s for 1 hour flights in five years which is where you see planes typically operated by another airline for short routes.

Boeing needs a Mister Fixit. Not another MC Management type, or Darth Vader. We are not talking wash machines here, but airplanes which on a bad day can fall out of the sky. As has been expressed in several comments, the CEO (and Co) has to love airplanes. They have to respect the people on the floor. For them it's not a simple job, they are there because of their love for airplanes. The culture needs to change, take down all the posters, they are not needed, a waste of money. Building airplanes is a job to be taken seriously. That job has to be made easy, no politics or other management crap. Just concentrate on the job.

I think boeing screwed the pooch chasing short term gains at the risk of long-term collapse. The chickens are now coming home roost, and the high stakes gamblers have already moved-on after sucking the soul out of its victim. Demands from the current stockholders will ensure even more risks and risky cutbacks while making impossible demands, meaning they are sure to drive it further into collapse. It’s a management problem they created, and they don’t have any idea how to fix it. It is beyond their pay grade, totally beyond their understanding. Can’t fix stupid. Understanding your product should be the prime directive, but they deal only in pie charts and unicorn farts. Skyliner for example, the icing on the cake. 😶 A man has got to “NO!” his inhibitions! 😂

Wait until January 2025. Breeze currently serves DFW Airport. Southwest cannot serve DFW before 2025 without giving up Love Field gates, which they won’t do voluntarily, as they treasure their near monopoly at that airport. (The 2025 changeover is due to the Wright Amendment, a good topic for another video.) Also, you can expect American Airlines to declare war, as they will do anything to protect their near monopoly at DFW. If some folks out there are wondering if these two airlines with huge networks would really dedicate this much effort to fighting over two specific North Central Texas airports, they’ve already spent the last 45 years doing just that, and I don’t see why they will bury the hatchet now.
